Determine Your Undertone
Three elements are involved in determining your skin undertone. These are hemoglobin, carotene, and melanin. Your undertone is defined by genetics and never changes. A few tests can help you determine whether you have a cool undertone or a warm undertone.
The first method involves dabbing some pink-based cream foundation on one cheek and yellow on the other. Spread the foundation evenly on each cheek until they form a thin layer. The one that blends evenly is your match.
Pink means COOL, yellow means WARM.
Another way of determining your undertone is by using gold and a silver-coloured fabric. If your skin blends well with the silver fabric, you have a cool undertone. And, if it blends well with the gold fabric, you have a warm undertone.
The colour of your veins can also help you determine your undertone. Go in natural light and check the colour of your veins on the inside of your wrists. Green veins indicate a cool undertone, and blue veins indicate a warm undertone.
Determining your undertone helps you understand whether your skin is summer/winter type or spring/autumn type.
Cool undertone denotes that you are a SUMMER or a WINTER type.
Warm undertone means SPRING or AUTUMN type.
